Welcome... A new property owners' association for Strathglass Park was launched April 26 2008. This site will serve those who are members of the association and those that are interested in learning what the association has discussed in the past and what future plans may hold. If you have any ideas or would like to see information that is not on this site please feel free to email the web site administrator at strathglasspark@gmail.com or write to us at Strathglass Property Owners Association, PO Box 65, Rumford, ME 04276

SPOA succeeds in getting traffic mirror for park entrance

With the help of Rumford PD officer Doug Maifeld, the SPOA lobbied for and got the town to buy a traffic mirror (seen in photos above) to improve the visibility by the main gate for motorists exiting onto Maine Ave.  The visibility problem was one of several traffic issues SPOA members have identified and taken action on.

SPOA REORGANIZATIONAL MEETING COMING JUNE 6                 Members strongly urged to attend; future of organization is at stake

The current officers of the Strathglass Property Owners Association will be stepping down as of the June 6 meeting, when the organization will be one year old.  If the organization is to continue, new officers must be elected.  Recently, volunteer effort in the SPOA has diminished and there is a question as to whether any members will step forward to fill the vacancies. If no officers are elected in June, the organization will effectively cease operation.  There are over 40 current members, so it is clear that in its first year of operation, the SPOA has attracted considerable interest and has achieved some success, yet someone has to take the responsibility for doing the work to keep the organization going.  Members are urged to attend the June 6 meeting so that the neighborhood does not lose the one organization that speaks for and works for Strathglass Park. It will take place at 10 am, in the community room of the Rumford Public Library.  If you are willing to be nominated for chair, treasurer or secretary, please contact current Chair Audrey Guay at 364-8751, or drop a note to the SPOA, PO Box 65, Rumford, ME 04276, or email us at strathglasspark@gmail.com

Fundraising efforts go forward
SPOA members Peter Robichaud, Harry Hamner and Hank Maifeld were among the members running a bake sale/tag sale at the Marden's shopping center May 2.  The event netted over a hundred dollars.  The group also received a $20 donation recently from Dick's Restaurant after an April 25 dinner attended by several members.  And member Sarah Myles has set up a magazine fund raiser.  She writes:

"I set up a website for fundrasing with selling magazines. If you would like to re-subscribe to your favourite magazine or subscribe to a new magazine please visit the link below. 40% of the purchase price will be earned for our Organization :)
